The Eagles Cricket Club (ECC) has always been committed to promoting young talent and democratizing the sport. Since its inception, the club has seen an increase in demand for training opportunities, underlining its relevance in the cricket community in the canton of Schwyz. However, this increased demand has also brought with it a challenge: the diversity of player levels has made it difficult to cater to each member individually.
As a committed member of the umbrella organization Cricket Switzerland, the Eagles Cricket Club feels obliged to promote the sport and represent it in the canton of Schwyz. To meet this challenge, the idea of an academy was born, which offers everyone, regardless of playing experience and level, the opportunity to learn and develop in cricket.
Die Ressourcen für die Umsetzung dieser Idee fehlten zunächst, doch durch eine Zusammenarbeit mit dem Amt für Migration, Abt. Integration des Kantons Schwyz entstand ein Pilotprojekt. Unter der Leitung des ECC und in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Projektleiter «Soziale Integration Sport» wurde ein Konzept entwickelt, das sich besonders auf die Integration und persönliche Entwicklung unbegleiteter minderjähriger Jugendlicher (MNA) mit Fluchthintergrund konzentrierte.
The results of this pilot project, which ran from October to December 2023, showed the enormous potential of structured cricket training. Cricket proved to be a valuable contribution to physical and personal development, the promotion of teamwork and linguistic exchange.
Based on these findings, the ECC decided to found the Eagles Cricket Academy (ECA). The goals of the ECA are clearly defined: long-term integration and development of young cricketers as well as promoting a passion for cricket in the canton of Schwyz.
The ECA offers well-structured training sessions in accordance with international standards. Our experienced trainers work specifically on the individual skills of each participant, placing particular emphasis on safety and the protection of the training environment.
What makes the Eagles Cricket Academy special is its openness to all interested parties. We welcome not only cricket enthusiasts but also the local community to join our exciting sport.
